This technique involves placing an animation template on a record player, and filming it to create an animation effect similar to that of a zoetrope. I have held workshops exploring this technique at numerous events including Manipulate and Alchemy film festivals in Scotland. Some of these events have involved collaborative film-making and live animation performances. I found this approach to animation to be very rewarding in its approachability and collaborative creative potential. Since the beginning of 2021 this workshop has developed into a short introductory course in animation, which has been held at the Chiwu Art Studio.
